The state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education is set to vote on our expansion application later this month. They will meet on Tuesday, February 12th at 8:30 AM.
The meeting is open to the public, so let’s create a Sea of Blue to show the Board just how much support there is for Alma del Mar’s expansion application! This is a chance to be a part of a movement to ensure that every child in New Bedford has access to an excellent education no matter their family’s race, income level or zip code.
Alma del Mar has received a generous donation that will allow us to provide transportation for our supporters to attend the February 12th Board meeting in Malden. If you plan to join us, please select the “Ride With Us!” ticket option. Additionally, we will also provide child care for Alma scholars at the school beginning at 5 AM – please also “Register for Child Care!” and include your child(ren)’s name and Alma crew name. Breakfast and special blue Alma del Mar Supporter T-shirts will be provided.
Alternatively, if you live in the Boston area or would otherwise prefer to drive yourself to Malden, please “Reserve a Spot!” so we know you are coming and can provide you with a T-shirt at the meeting.
Together, we will create a Sea of Blue for support of Alma del Mar – reminiscent of when we packed the New Bedford City Council Chambers last fall, only bigger and BLUER.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
If you reserve a ticket to “Ride With Us” to the event, please park in our parking lot which is located at the corner of Hathaway St. and Madeira Ave., behind the large playing field at Alma del Mar. You may then walk toward the school and meet the group near the playground.
