Afterschool at Alma del Mar provides academic support and opportunities for scholars to participate in high-quality enrichment activities. The program exposes scholars to activities to which they might not otherwise have had access and provides scholars a safe, structured, engaging environment while their parents work or further their education.
Scholars receive homework help during the first portion of the afternoon. Thereafter, scholars choose from activities such as karate, sailing, theater, basketball, lacrosse, dance, soccer, girls’ club, jewelry making, art club, science club, engineering, yoga, Zumba, bowling and leadership club.
Many scholars are also paired with a mentor from the community, building a relationship with a positive adult role model and strengthening literacy skills. For more information about the mentoring program, click here.
