Dear Alma Families,
As you may have heard, there have been instances of individuals outside of school communities entering Zoom classrooms across the nation with the intention to disturb classroom learning.
To prevent these disruptions, we are ensuring all teachers have the following security measures set up in their Zoom accounts:
- Waiting Room: All participants will enter a Waiting Room and need to be admitted by the teacher to participate. Please ensure all scholars have their username showing as their first and last name so that teachers know to admit them. If you are not sure how to do this, please contact your scholar’s teacher.
- Lock Classroom: Teachers will lock their classroom once class has begun. This means it is critical that all scholars are ON TIME for every class period. If a scholar is late, there is a chance they will be locked out of their Zoom classroom. They should text their teacher to let them know if they are late and locked out of class.
Additionally, we ask that all families communicate with their scholars about the importance of keeping their Zoom information to themselves. Scholars and families should not be sharing any Zoom links, Meeting IDs, or passwords on social media or with other individuals outside of Alma or who aren’t in their Crew.
We are confident that these measures will keep our scholars safe. Thank you for your continued support!
Sincerely,
Kaitlin Goldrick Taylor DeLoach
