Alma del Mar was founded on a mission of putting all of our scholars on the path to college. With that mission in mind, we are extremely proud of our first cohort of scholars and their upcoming graduation from high school.
In honor of these high school seniors — many of whom started at Alma as second grade scholars in 2011 — we are thrilled to announce the launch of Alma del Mar’s College Scholarship Program. This program will support Alma Alumni in their pursuit of a post-secondary education in the Fall of 2022.
Up to ten (10) $4,000 scholarships will be awarded to alumni of Alma del Mar who are enrolling into a part-time or full-time secondary education program for the 2022-2023 academic year.
The Scholarship portal will close on Monday, April 25, 2022, at 5 pm EST.
Criteria: Applicant must be a member of Alma’s Class of 2026 and plan to enroll in post-secondary institution for the Fall of 2022. Applicants will be required to submit documentation of post-secondary plans, and submit an essay reflecting on what being a service-minded leader means to them. This program does not measure academic records or financial need.
Essay Question: Part of Alma’s mission is to challenge our scholars to be service-minded leaders. During your Passage Portfolio, you reflected on this. Now, four years later, we ask you to please write a 250-500 word essay reflecting on what being a service-minded leader means to you today, and in the future. This essay should be an example of your strongest writing, and you should write multiple drafts over a period of one week or more to ensure it best represents your writing ability.
Selection Process: Applications will be reviewed by a volunteer panel of Alma community members (Board of Trustees, Alma del Mar Foundation, Middle School Teacher(s) and Secondary Schools Guidance Counselor).
Please note, applications will only be accepted online using the form below. For questions regarding the scholarship program, please contact Director of Development Becca Kurie at beccakurie@almadelmar.org
