Meet Ms. Reiner

July 14, 2021, by Becca Kurie

Nicole Reiner

Ms. Reiner will be the K-2 ELA Specialist at Alma’s Frederick Douglass Campus.

What made you decide to join the Crew at Alma?
I joined the Crew at Alma because I was inspired by the Crew mentality and the idea of modeling positive working relationships with students, as well as expeditionary learning. I value Alma’s mission and mindset of providing a learning experience that prioritizes the whole child, while preparing them to be active members in their community.

What do you hope to contribute to Alma?
I hope to contribute positive and memorable relationships with colleagues and with all of my students and their families. I hope to teach our students lifelong critical thinking skills that push them to challenge themselves and systems around them.

What teacher made a difference in your life, and how?
My high school math teacher who took extra time out of her prep to tutor me, no matter how much extra help I needed she never hesitated to support me.

Why did you become involved in education?
I became involved in education to ensure every child receives a fair and personalized educational experience that allows them to achieve their full potential.

Where did you go to college or post-secondary school?
I graduated from the University of Maine-Orono with a BA in Mass Communications, then I attended Northeastern University and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, and finally I attended Relay Graduate School of Education with a Master’s Degree in Teaching Exceptional Learners.

What did you like about your college?
I loved that I made life-long friends, was able to expand my network and meet people from a variety of backgrounds, and that I learned how important communication is and how we can improve our interpersonal communication across cultures.

What is your favorite food?
Pizza

What is your favorite book?
