What do you hope to contribute to Alma?
I am looking forward to bringing my unique experiences and skill sets that I have developed while working with English Language Learners from a variety of backgrounds and cultural contexts to my work at Alma. I am also excited to contribute a positive attitude and growth mindset to the team.
What teacher made a difference in your life, and how?
One of the most impactful teachers in my life was my high school Latin teacher, Magister MacMurchadha. He was a living example for me of what it meant to love students and support their holistic development inside and outside of the classroom. Additionally, he opened my eyes to the way a deep love and passion for your subject matter can ignite the curiosity and interest of your students. I left that class with a deeper understanding of Latin, the English language, the global community, and my roll in it. He is a great inspiration for me as a person and as a teacher.
Where did you go to college? What did you like about your college?
I went to Arizona State University for my undergraduate degree and will be a proud Sun Devil for life! My favorite thing about ASU is the wealth of opportunities they provide to students and their commitment to fostering and celebrating diversity in their student body and among their faculty. My experience was augmented considerably by the diversity of voices and perspectives that I interacted with on a daily basis at my university.
