Lily Jeswald is an associate teacher at Alma’s Frederick Douglass Campus.
What made you decide to join the Crew at Alma?
The idea of raising service-minded leaders. My work in the Miss America Organization influenced me to be involved in my own community, and I think it’s fantastic that Alma stresses the importance of service as well.
What do you hope to contribute to Alma?
I hope that being a young teacher, I can contribute a type of relatability to our scholars both in academic courses, but also in social skills. Our scholars needs must be met, and they have much more to learn alongside the core subjects.
What teacher made a difference in your life, and how?
My theatre teacher from the Capachione School of Performing Arts influenced me to become the woman I am today. His name is Adam Joy and he taught with an air of tough love. His unwavering support of his students during their best times and during their trying times will always be his best quality.
Why did you become involved in education?
I worked at Bridgewater State University during college and fell in love with working with children. I hope to one day become a theatre/musical theatre teacher!
Where did you go to college or post-secondary school?
Dean College
What did you like about your college?
We were a private college, which became home because of the small community. We always used to say you’ll always know someone who walks by you in the hallway!
What is your favorite food?
Chips and salsa or chicken fingers
What is your favorite book?
The Hunger Games Trilogy
