Amanda Huesmann is the Lead Music Teacher at Alma’s Sarah D. Ottiwell Campus.
What made you decide to join the Crew at Alma?
Alma appealed to me because they clearly have a passion for helping the kids in their community and it shows that they greatly enjoy it!
What do you hope to contribute to Alma?
I hope to revitalize the elementary music program and provide a fun, educational curriculum that will allow our young scholars to get curious about music and everything about it.
What teacher made a difference in your life, and how?
My first college piano professor made a difference in my life for showing kindness and enthusiasm in teaching me, working with me exactly where I was in my learning, and for really reigniting a passion for music and the methodologies of music education.
Why did you become involved in education?
II wanted to be able to take my passion for music and the piano and share that with young learners who had the same curiosity that I did at that age. I find it to be such a creative profession that not only is fulfilling for the students, but for me as a teacher as well.

What did you like about your college?
It was a small, liberal arts school that allowed me to connect with my classes and professors on a much deeper level.
