Ms. Friel is a First Grade Lead Teacher at the Sarah D. Ottiwell Campus.

What made you decide to join the Crew at Alma?

I wanted to join Alma because of the community. The second I stepped onto the campus I felt invited right in and felt it was a great place for learning and growing both as a teacher and for the students.

What do you hope to contribute to Alma?

I hope to bring a warm and inviting classroom as well as being a person for everyone to lean on when needed. Whether that be a student, parent or colleague.

What teacher made a difference in your life, and how?

One of my professors in college really made a difference in my life. He was my Portuguese professor and he was always striving to make me the best I could be. Whether it was extra help in his class, support in other classes, or even advice about the future he always was there trying to help in any way possible!

Where did you go to college? What did you like about your college?

I went to the University of New Hampshire. I loved that my college had so many options for classes and extracurricular activities. I also loved how my college was a pretty big school but everywhere I went I felt a place of home and felt a sense of community from the professors to all the students on campus.

What is your favorite food?

My favorite food is pizza.

What is your favorite book?

My favorite book is The Handmaid’s Tale.
