
Kathryn L. Anuszczyk is a K-2 Literacy Specialist at Alma’s Frederick Douglass Campus.
What made you decide to join the Crew at Alma?
I heard many good things about Alma and I am excited to teach only reading to students. It will be exciting to teach only one discipline and it is the discipline I enjoy teaching and seeing success with children.
What do you hope to contribute to Alma?
I hope to contribute to student success with the knowledge and experience I have had through the many years of teaching struggling readers.
What teacher made a difference in your life, and how?
My 9th grade algebra teacher made a difference in my life. She was a long term substitute. She stayed after school everyday to tutor me. She never gave up on me and was determined to help me understand and pass algebra.
Why did you become involved in education?
I have always loved working with children and seeing them smile when they succeed. I volunteered at the Kennedy Center as a young child. Then continued volunteering as a middle school student with special needs students at the middle school.
Where did you go to college or post-secondary school?
I earned my masters degree from Cambridge College.
What did you like about your college?
Meeting teachers that had been teaching for a while as well as new teachers just beginning their careers.
