Meet Mr. Salado

July 13, 2022, by Becca Kurie

Rafael Salado is a co-curricular lead teacher at Alma’s Frederick Douglass Campus.

What made you decide to join the Crew at Alma?
My girlfriend interviewed and received a job offer at Alma. After hearing about her positive experience she had and all of the other great things happening at Alma I knew that I had to apply.

What do you hope to contribute to Alma?
I hope to bring lots of positivity and joy to the Alma community.

What teacher made a difference in your life, and how?
Mr. Harvey made a difference in my life because he was a warm, yet demanding teacher. He held me to high standards as a student athlete.

Why did you become involved in education?
I wanted to give back to the BIPOC community.

Where did you go to college or post-secondary school?
New England College

What did you like about your college?
It was a culture shock and changed my life for the better. I got to explore the outdoors (fishing, camping, hiking), it was so different from how I grew up in Boston.

What is your favorite food?
Pizza

What is your favorite book?
Flyfisher’s Guide to New England, by Lou Zambello
