What made you decide to join the Crew at Alma?
A good friend of mine had referred me; but what made me love Alma was their mission to its students.
What do you hope to contribute to Alma?
I hope to contribute my passions in science and to encourage students' interests in STEM.
What teacher made a difference in your life, and how?
Mrs. Apostolos from high school and Professor Demers from college. As an adolescent to my early years in college I was constantly faced with adversity where my major struggles were secure housing and finances. These two amazing individuals provided me resources when I could not afford, ears that listened to understand and compassion. So, because of these two I was able to study, complete assignments and feel like an ordinary student.
Why did you become involved in education?
It started in high school when I had volunteered to be a dance instructor for elementary students and from there my passion to teach blossomed. When I graduated and moved onto college, I mentored colleagues, I gave talks at local high schools, I tutored K-12 at a Girls Inc. and became a role model for the kids that actively followed the biology club where I was president my senior year of college. I became involved in education because to know I was making a positive influence in those that I came across and to share my love for science and education gives me purpose.
Where did you go to college or post-secondary school and what did you like about it?
Rivier University. I liked the close-knit community.
