Dear Alma Families,

We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to address an important matter concerning scholar behavior on our school buses.

Ensuring Safety and Compliance
The safety of all scholars while traveling to and from school is our top priority. Recently, we have observed an increase in disruptive and unsafe behaviors on the buses. To ensure a safe and respectful environment for all passengers, we are implementing updated measures and reinforcing our expectations for bus behavior.

Updated Behavior Expectations

  1. Safety-Related Behaviors: Effective immediately, we will enforce updated consequences for behaviors that compromise safety. This includes:
    • Standing, seated improperly, or being out of seat while the bus is in motion.
    • Loud or disruptive behavior that distracts the driver or disrupts the safety of the bus.

These behaviors will result in automatic suspension from the bus if they occur. This measure is crucial for maintaining the safety and well-being of all scholars.

  1. Communication and Consequences: For each scholar write-up, we will discuss the issue with the scholar and their family. We will also provide clear communication regarding the potential consequences, including possible bus suspensions, for unsafe behavior.

Please review and discuss the following expectations with your scholar:

  • Follow Safety Rules: Stay seated while the bus is in motion and avoid disruptive behavior.
  • Respect the Driver: Listen to and follow the driver’s instructions at all times.

To support these efforts, Alma staff will use time during Town Hall meetings with scholars to discuss bus behavior expectations as well as reviewing consequences for not meeting expectations.

We appreciate your support and cooperation in reinforcing these important safety measures as we work together to ensure a safe and positive environment for all scholars. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.

Best regards,
