What made you decide to join the Crew at Alma?
I decided to join the Crew at Alma del Mar because I was truly inspired by the school's mission to guide every student toward college and encourage them to be thoughtful, service-minded leaders. Alma’s dedication to creating a challenging yet supportive environment aligns perfectly with my own beliefs about education.
What do you hope to contribute to Alma?
I hope to contribute to Alma del Mar by fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive school culture where both students and staff can thrive. As the Director of Culture, I want to create and implement strategies that celebrate student achievements and emphasize the importance of responsibility, consideration, and service—our core habits of character for students. Additionally, I aim to uphold and promote the Crew Code for staff, ensuring that every member of our team feels valued and supported in their efforts to contribute to our shared mission.
What teacher made a difference in your life, and how?
I can’t name a specific teacher from grade school who made a difference in my life, but my high school guidance counselor, Ms. Brown Jones, had a significant impact on me. I didn’t think college was a viable option, but she encouraged me to apply. Ms. Brown Jones sat with me as I completed the Common App and cheered me on when I was accepted to Framingham State University. She encouraged me to consider the opportunity, but never pushed me. Her support and belief in my potential made all the difference. I truly don’t know what my life path would have been if I hadn’t attended college and received my bachelor's degree.
Why did you become involved in education?
I became involved in education because I truly believe in its power to change lives. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand how access to quality education can open doors and create opportunities. My passion for education is rooted in a desire to provide all students, regardless of their background, with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to succeed.
Where did you go to college or post-secondary school?
Framingham State University
What did you like about your college?
In high school, I lacked confidence about going to college. I was a student who underperformed and didn’t excel as much as I knew I could. Framingham State University was one of the few colleges I was accepted to, and I’m so glad I took on that challenge. It was at Framingham that I truly felt like I excelled as a student for the first time.
The small campus and its close proximity to home made the transition easier for me. But what really made a difference was my college advisor, who became a mentor to me. Her guidance and support significantly improved my confidence as a student and changed my perspective on education. At Framingham State, I discovered my potential and developed a passion for learning that has stayed with me ever since.
