Dear Alma Families,
On Wednesday, February 14, we will observe both Valentine’s Day and Frederick Douglass’s birthday! We will show our love and gratitude for our community, and we will celebrate our namesake’s contributions to promoting equity for all.
We invite scholars to dress in their “Sunday Best” for this occasion (jeans, athletic wear, and sweatpants are not permitted). If scholars do not want to dress up, they may wear their uniforms. In addition, scholars are welcome to bring in valentines (non food items). If your scholar is bringing valentines, please bring one valentine for every member of your child’s class or for the entire grade. Class rosters are available upon request.
On Wednesday February 14th, classes will proceed as usual. Scholars will have time at the end of the day to pass out their valentines. Due to food allergies and safety precautions, we ask that families do not send in candy or food to share with your child’s class. Paper valentines, stickers, pencils, and other non-food items are welcome. Thank you for your understanding!
