Meet Ms. Faath!

What made you decide to join the Crew at Alma?
I heard about the great opportunity to join the Alma crew from Andrew Jacome. I decided to join Alma after he explained how thoughtful and caring the work environment is. As well as, how the crew helps staff grow and learn new things along the way. Lastly, I loved the way the teachers and staff hold its scholars to high standards, but also lets them make mistakes and learn from them.

What do you hope to contribute to Alma?
I would love to make a crochet club. Crochet is a wonderful skill that helps students use their fine motor skills. It also shows students something they have never seen or done before, and maybe they will enjoy it so much they’ll find a passion in the craft.

What teacher made a difference in your life, and how?
My favorite professor from college was Dr. Breisacher. She is an amazing teacher who takes pride in her knowledge. I found myself in her office a lot. We would have deep conversations about my capstone or just life in general. She is a great historian and truly made my college experience better by pushing me to be my best. Now that I’m graduated she is now a friend.

Why did you become involved in education?
I have two reasons why I became involved in education. I found myself having a difficult time in school. Most of the people who got me through those years were my teachers. Even though most of them did not know what I was going through, they still provided me with a sense of normalcy and a comfortable environment I could come to every day. The other reason I became involved in education was my love for history. Based on some of the conversations I have had with family and friends, a lot of them disliked history because of their teachers. They expressed to me how they were boring or mean. I want to change that for future generations and make history fun and interesting. History class is just one big story and you have to find a way to dig into it so others can feel the same intrigue I do.

Where did you go to college or post-secondary school?
Worcester State University

What did you like about your college?
I loved my professors. Most of them were caring, kind and truly wanted me to succeed in my studies. They also were very knowledgeable about their own fields which I loved learning about. I found myself going to office hours to discuss my papers or projects a lot and I just loved having in-depth conversations about a topic that meant a lot to me.
