Dear Alma families,
We are excited to share with you that we have selected a new supplier for breakfast, lunch and snack options for Alma scholars! We have heard from many of you through surveys and Alma Family Advisory meetings that your scholars want more meal options, and this new partnership will allow that to happen!
Beginning Nov. 28th, Food and Nutrition Services at New Bedford Public Schools will deliver freshly-prepared breakfast, lunch and snacks to Alma’s two campuses on a daily basis. NBPS’ Food and Nutrition Services aims to provide nutritious meals and snacks that all children love. These meals provide key vitamins and nutrients that support healthy growth and development, in addition to supporting classroom instruction throughout the school day by keeping children fueled for learning.
Alma began exploring new vendors earlier this fall while also surveying families about school lunch offerings. Families expressed their desire for school meals to be made locally and with high-quality ingredients that children enjoy. Attached to this letter you will find the breakfast and lunch menu options for the first few weeks: Douglass Campus // Ottiwell Campus
Alma has entrusted Revolution Foods to provide our scholars with nutritious breakfast and lunch options since August 2016. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to our families, especially during the extended school closure due to the pandemic. With their help, Alma was able to distribute tens of thousands of free meals to New Bedford families when they needed it most.
We also wish to thank all of you for your continued support and partnership in this crucial work. Please consider attending our upcoming campus-based Alma Family Advisory meetings so we may continue to work together for the betterment of our school community.
