Traducción al español de la carta a la familia de Alma sobre la política de máscaras
August 17, 2021
Dear Alma Families,
We are so excited to welcome all scholars, teachers and support staff back to school, fully in-person, five days per week, in just a few short weeks! As a reminder, the state is not allowing schools to offer at-home remote learning options this year.
Due to the recent upward trend in COVID-19 cases in our city, and based upon guidance from the CDC and local health officials, Alma will continue to require face masks indoors for all scholars and staff this fall, regardless of vaccination status. This policy is in line with other school districts across the region and state, including New Bedford Public Schools.
As you prepare your scholar for returning to school on August 26th, please practice wearing a mask indoors with them, especially if they participated in our fully remote program during the 2020-2021 school year and are not yet accustomed to wearing a mask throughout the day.
In addition to masking, we will continue to follow the below protocols:
- Hand Hygiene: We will ensure scholars have time to either wash or sanitize their hands throughout the day.
- Ventilation: We will continue to ensure top-rated ventilation, including HEPA filters, are in place at all of our schools.
- Staying home when we are sick: We will continue to expect that scholars and staff will stay home if they are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, and we will continue to emphasize our shared commitments to keeping each other, our families, and our community safe.
Updated DESE guidance does not require social distancing in schools for the new school year. We will share additional information regarding quarantine protocols in the near future. Alma does plan to participate in a COVID-19 Testing Program that will be offered by DESE. We will continue to monitor the public health data and be in communication with local and state health officials, keeping the health and safety of our students, staff members, and families at the center of our decision making.
Thank you for your continued support.
In service,
Will Gardner
Executive Director
