Kennedy Summer Program – Download Enrollment Materials

This summer program is an opportunity for children to engage in a variety of sports, games, crafts, environmental education, and outdoor fun while making new friends. Activities include beach and swim time, special visitor programs from the National Park Service, Buzzards Bay Coalition, and many more.

The Kennedy Summer Day Program operates out of Fort Taber Park and includes breakfast, lunch and transportation. The program is open to children who are eligible for kindergarten in September of 2013 through the age of fourteen. For New Bedford residents, each session is $135 and financial aid is available for those who qualify. If space allows, non-residents may register for $155 per session.

Located on beautiful Mattapoisett Harbor, Camp Massasoit has a legacy and tradition in the summer camp experience. Since 1962 our camp has been developing and nurturing children into the future leaders of tomorrow. Through traditional offerings such as archery, boating, and our challenge course to more unique
programs like sailing, sea kayaking, and dramatic arts, we nurture the potential of every camper. In addition, our special theme weeks, camp songs, and funny skits create a camp spirit that few other day camp programs can match. Each camper is sure to develop new skills while making lifelong friendships.

Boys and Girls Club Summer Fun Program – Download Registration Materials

The New Bedford Boys & Girls Club will once again host its annual Summer Fun program for boys & girls ages 7 to 13 years.  This program is aimed at providing physical, recreational and educational activities in a safe, wholesome environment.  9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.  One week session: $50 per child/$40 for additional child in family.  Two week sessions: $80 per child/$70 for additional children in same family.

ArtWorks! Cool Arts Kids Summer Program – Download Class Offerings & Registration Materials

ArtWorks! Cool Arts Kids summer program classes are designed to allow youth to meet and work with artists and to experience art practice as a part of everyday life. Offerings this summer include: acting for film and TV, sculpture, painting, puppets, yarn painting, eco-design fashion and accessories.  Limited scholarships available. The small, fun, nurturing environment of Camp Frederick Douglass allows each camper an opportunity to build self esteem and trusting relationships. Through programming that enriches the spirit, mind, and body, the staff of Camp Douglass helps each child learn to develop their physical and social skills. The friendships that campers make here will last a lifetime.   Camp Douglass offers a unique setting in that campers ages 8-13 have the opportunity to choose a different specialty camp, week to week, during sessions F-I.  This is a great chance for campers to explore and learn more about a specific game or skill.

We use bicycle trips, to create the opportunity for kids, (ages 9-16) to interact with great, role models. In its most basic configuration, kids and instructors ride bikes from our central, base at the Victory Park Warming House to, interesting destinations around the city., Some of these destinations include city parks, and beaches, the Whaling Museum, the, National Historic Park, Fort Taber, etc. We will, go anywhere that is safe, fun and educational., Once we arrive at the various sites, the, adventure continues. At the parks, we fly kites, or play tennis, basketball or Frisbee. We beach, comb or go swimming at the beach, (under the, careful supervision of our Trained, Lifeguards) and go on tours of the National, Historical Park, taking every opportunity to, explore any interesting aspect of our, adventures. We also transport the bikes and, ride at sites outside of the city, such as the, Cape Cod Canal Bike Path, the Fall River, Bioreserve, and Freetown State Forest.  Full & partial scholarships available.

Community Boating Center Summer Youth ProgramDownload Registration Materials

SEA SQUIRTS – (Ages 5-6) Sea Squirts is the ideal course for students ages 5-6. Classes run in the morning from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Students will learn using the US Sailing Certification System. Designed as an introductory, “hands on” class, the focus is on making kids comfortable in and around boats. Swimming, games, and other activities are intermingled with beginner sailing with the goal of FUN! Limit of eight students per session. Bussing is not available for this class.

BEGINNER – (Ages 7-18) Beginner classes are for students who have little or no experience, and who want to become comfortable on the water. Instructors accompany students in the boat, teaching the basics of on the water safety while promoting self-confidence in a fun, enthusiastic and nurturing environment. We offer eight one-week full-day sessions, with eight students per session maximum. This class is taught using a variety of boats including Capris, Sonars and Picos (ages 7-13) and Capris and Sonars (ages 14-18).

No experience necessary.
