Scholars have been busy rehearsing a new piece on their violins, violas and cellos, a samba which they will perform for their families and friends at Expedition Night. Third and fourth grade scholars will be collaborating as a joint ensemble for a performance of Joseph Compello’s “Super String Samba.” For members of the Alma String Ensemble, Expedition Night is an opportunity to perform on a stage in front of a large audience. Our string players have been preparing for this performance since January.
Instrumental Music Teacher Alysa Berbey reflects, “I am proud to showcase the growth these scholars have achieved since our last Expedition Night performance. As you may remember, our first performance featured short melodies played in unison and without bows. This time, scholars will be displaying their musical accomplishments over the last five months through a fun, upbeat Latin piece with multiple independent parts featuring both plucked and bowed sections.”
Join us for Expedition Night on Tuesday, June 17 from 5:30 – 7:00 PM at New Bedford High School.
